IT support for accounting and cpa firms
Your worst possible week to have an IT problem is on the calendar a year ahead.
Tell us how the firm runs. We pick the local IT company that already supports firms your size and book the meeting.
Busy season is the whole argument.
For ten weeks a year the firm runs at capacity with a statutory deadline at the end of it, and there is no version of March where you absorb three days of downtime. A provider who has never worked a tax season will schedule a migration in February. The other half of this is that you hold Social Security numbers and bank details for every client, which puts a written information security plan on you whether anyone has asked to see it or not.
What we hear about most
- Tax software on old hardware
- The package gets heavier every year and the workstations do not. By February the preparers are waiting on the machine instead of the client.
- Client files moving by email
- Returns and statements going back and forth as attachments, because the portal was awkward and everybody quietly stopped using it.
- One seasonal login, shared
- Temporary preparers come in every January and the fastest way to get them working is the account the last one used.
Ask what they do between January and April.
The useful question is not which tax package a provider knows, it is whether they hold change windows during busy season and what their response commitment looks like in March versus August. We ask that, and how many accounting firms they currently support, and match on the answer.
Who we can help here
- Any size, from a solo preparer up, including seasonal staff
- Tax, audit, bookkeeping or advisory, one office or a few
- Currently on a break-fix arrangement, an unhappy provider, or nobody at all
We are opening one city at a time and will tell you plainly where we are. If nobody fits you yet, we say so and let you know when someone does.
